Yew Tree House Bed & Breakfast is a haven of tranquility after a day at the Llangollen Festivals and the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod.

 

Llangollen is the Festival Capital of Wales and a short drive from Yew Tree House Bed and Breakfast (around 20-25 minutes).

 

Llangollen is host to many different international events each year, the most famous being the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod held in July. The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod is a world-renowned festival of music, song and dance. Competitors from every continent come together for a week of music and colour. Each evening the Pavilion plays hosts to concerts by world-class artists.

 

Llangollen hosts a number of other Festivals. The Llangollen Fringe starts the week after the International Musical Eisteddfod and runs into August. The event offers comedy, music, dance and an eclectic mix of events held at venues throughout the town.

 

The Llangollen Balloon Festival held every autumn, is a magnificent display of some of the most colourful and strangest shaped hot air balloons to be seen. A fascinating weekend with a spectacular firework display in the evening.

 

The Gardening Show is a relatively new addition to Llangollen's Festivals. A must for all garden lovers.

 

The Llangollen Food Festival - some of the top names in the gastonomic world have visited the Festival over the years. There are in excess of 80 different exhibitors offering everything from organic meats to fruit lacquers, Welsh cheeses, bread, chocolate and fish.

 

For lovers of great Jazz there is the Llangollen Jazz Festival held in May, with some of the best names from the jazz world appearing each year.

 

Llangollen has plenty to do and see. There is the Llangollen Steam Railway, Horsedrawn canal boats, 12C ruins of Castle Dinas Bran set high on the hill behind the town, Valle Crucis Abbey, Plas Newydd former home of the Ladies of Llangollen and the fabulous setting of the town on the banks of the river Dee. Nearby is the stunning Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. carrying canal boats over the river Dee.
